Today is World Mental Health Day. Long a taboo topic, mental health has touched most of us in some way, and has risen to the top of business conversations. As much exposure as this topic has received, we don’t often talk about or enforce the leadership skills and competencies that are essential to fostering a culture of #MentalHealthAtWork.

Let’s face it: when mental health suffers at work, work is not sustainable. When someone is appointed to a position of managerial power, there’s a great deal of responsibility that comes with that power. It mustn’t be taken lightly. This responsibility is multi-faceted, and entails not just subject-matter expertise or the ability to generate the business results required; but perhaps more importantly, it entails a deep responsibility to the people whose lives you are directly impacting. Fortunately, there are some respected, respectful, experienced, mature, and empathetic leaders out there who deserve to be recognized. My manager, Alicia Lenze, is one of those leaders. 🙏🏼

If you have someone you’d like to honor whose leadership is exemplary in fostering a culture of mental health, please tag them in the comments and let’s celebrate them. #SAPSustainability #LeadingWithPurpose Sophia Leonora Mendelsohn Gunther Rothermel Sebastian Steinhaeuser Dr. Natalie Lotzmann
