Julie Faulstich is a seasoned leader in independent school education with over 25 years of experience, from dorm staff to Head of School, showcasing strong interpersonal skills, creativity, and analytical rigor in change management.

In her recent role as Head at the Westover School in Middlebury, CT, Julie revitalized the institution by driving enrollment growth, enhancing fundraising, implementing modern advancement communication practices, refreshing branding, renovating campus facilities, and enriching programs like Women in Science and Engineering and the Rasin Center for Global Justice.

During her tenure, she led the Board of Trustees in establishing a comprehensive Vision for Belonging and Justice, emphasizing inclusion and equity.

Prior to Westover, Julie excelled at Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick, MA, holding roles such as Head of the English department, Academic Dean, and Assistant Head, where she revamped the academic program and daily schedule, and managed pre-college arts departments effectively.

Julie values a student-centered approach, individual connections, humor, and draws from organizational psychology principles in her work, highlighting the importance of data-driven decision-making and the people-centric nature of schools.

An accomplished presenter and author, Julie has shared insights on school change at NAIS, NBOA, and TABS conferences, and has contributed feature articles to Independent School magazine.

She is the Founder and Principal at Stony Creek Strategy, leveraging her expertise in education leadership and change management. Additionally, Julie hosts the popular Substack newsletter 'Talking Out of School,' focusing on post-pandemic school challenges.

Julie holds a B.A. in History from Smith College and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing from Emerson College.
