Julie Frizzo-Barker is a PhD candidate at Simon Fraser University (SFU) and a dedicated member of the GeNA Lab within the School of Communication. Her research focuses on exploring the impact of information and communication technologies (ICTs) on our daily experiences, while also examining how users influence the development of ICTs. Her key interests span across various areas including blockchain, gender studies, privacy, big data, and genomics. Julie has a solid educational background, having completed her MA at Goldsmiths College, University of London, her BA at Trinity Western University, and currently pursuing her PhD at Simon Fraser University.

During her academic journey, Julie Frizzo-Barker has been actively involved in multiple organizations where she has honed her skills and expertise. At present, she serves as a PhD Candidate and a dedicated researcher at the GeNA Lab, focusing on cutting-edge research in the field of communication at Simon Fraser University. Prior to her current role, she held the position of VP Marketing & Communications at Cryptek Labs, where she utilized her knowledge to drive marketing initiatives and communication strategies in the tech industry. Additionally, she has worked as an Account Manager at Domain7, leveraging her expertise in managing client accounts and fostering strong relationships. Julie also contributed as a Research Assistant at Spotlight Research and Consultancy, Ltd., showcasing her commitment to gaining practical research experience and contributing to impactful projects.
