BOLD STROKES are often needed to truly change the game.
🚀 In recent aerospace advances, rocket reusability has been one giant leap. Next month, a NASA-contracted SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket will soar to Jupiter’s Europa moon searching for evidence of liquid water. It’s a bold venture, but it’s a lot less costly than it could have been.
Endless technological advances over the decades have moved NASA and the aerospace industry forward—incrementally. Rockets, flight systems, and rover capabilities are all evolving. But one of the biggest stumbling blocks has been the gigantic costs of conventional one-and-done rocket booster systems needed to escape the earth’s atmosphere. Eventually, private firm SpaceX took the bold leap and invested in making reusable boosters a reality. It was a space travel game changer. For just this one contract to explore the moon Europa, flying a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket will save NASA more than $500 million. A similar approach by Blue Origin offers private citizens the opportunity to visit low-earth orbit.
Executing on the reusability concept took years and billions in investment, of course. But incremental efficiencies would not approach the same kind of wholesale reduction in costs. This drastic switch in thinking was a bold stroke for the cosmos.

PING PONG POP QUIZ: How high can you legally toss the ball when serving? . . . ANSWER: There's no limit but the ceiling. (You do have to toss it straight upward a minimum of six inches.) One reason to toss really high is to increase the velocity of the serve.
I'm happy to say that my book "Ping Pong Leadership" launched last week, and just became an Amazon #1 Best Seller in the "Strategic Management" category, plus a few others! WOW. I wasn't exactly expecting that. But I went for a high toss and threw myself into this project for a long time. And the ball came out with velocity.
THANK YOU to all of you who've supported this project, and for buying the book, or talking it up, or sharing it; or who just indulge me with a knowing smile when the subject of ping pong comes up.
As always: Hit hard, have fun, play fair!
