Justin Burns, Ph.D., is the Vice President for Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA), a position he has held since March 2024. In this role, he leads initiatives aimed at transforming university inventions into viable products and companies. His experience includes serving on the boards of several startups in the life sciences and healthcare sectors.12 Additionally, he worked at Emory University for five years in the Office of Technology Transfer, focusing on bringing various technologies to market and negotiating licensing agreements.13

Justin holds a B.S. in applied biology and a Ph.D. in molecular biology and biochemistry from Georgia Tech. His career began as a National Research Council Fellow at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, where he researched microbial bio-electrochemical systems.124
