As a significant birthday approaches, I’m gearing up for a trip to Colorado where there will be…

Mountains to climb Mindblowing views A hot air balloon ride A concert on a lake Relaxing by the pool Pampering spa days So many delicious dinners!

And as if that wasn’t enough, I was also treated to a surprise party last Sunday that all my closest friends and loved ones conspired, with my husband the master coordinator. 🥰

Our first stop was to my favorite local bar called RBF - see if you can figure out what that means. The cutout of my face on a stick should give you a clue! 🤣

What does this have to do with work?

Not a lot! But there is a lesson in here! Teamwork and showing our appreciation for others goes a long way. Not just in our personal lives, but also in our work. Taking the time to reflect on how we show up as team players, show our appreciation and nurture our relationships will only lead to good things. It’s not just a nice to have - it’s a necessity.

In what ways do you self-sabotage? Common mistakes I've personally lived and observed in others...

*Taking actions driven by Stress, Fear or Desperation *Not speaking your truth to avoid confrontation *Reacting to events based on how it impacts your ego *Beating yourself up for making mistakes

So how can we break free from these limiting behaviors?

*Focus on your long-term goals and the positive outcomes that you seek. Concentrating on the positive will clear your mind to think more strategically and creatively when you approach difficult periods.

*Take time out when you are feeling overwhelmed. Avoid important decisions and conversations until you are rested and centered.

*Continuously self-evaluate - understand why you do what you do. We grow and improve with evolving self-awareness.

*Don't take it personally when other people don't agree with you - it's usually got nothing to do with you. Our reactions are deeply ingrained automatic responses that are triggered by past experiences.

*Be open to the fact that you might be wrong! No one is perfect and we all make mistakes.

*Accept negative emotions you feel and let them go. Release judgement and instead seek empathy. We need to see the full - and objective - picture to understand the best path forward.

*Be honest about your perspective, while also thinking about the words you use. We create emotions and a direction of action with every sentence. Notice how you feel when you say what you say. Does it inspire you or drag you down? If it feels negative to you, it will feel negative to others too.

Attitude is everything. Give it power to lift you up.
