Kaja Sannerud Andersen has over 10 years of experience working with the Norwegian Red Cross in various capacities, focusing on humanitarian and advocacy work with a keen interest in protection, IHL, armed conflict, violence, international policy processes, and communication.

She possesses strong management skills gained from field positions that required networking, representation, and extensive diplomatic abilities. Prior to her work with the Red Cross, Kaja had a background in journalism and production.

Kaja's educational background includes studies in High School Graduation with Foreign Exchange Studies in Valdivia, Chile, French and Portuguese studies at the University of Oslo, a Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies from the University of Oslo, a Diploma of Education in Human Rights and Forced Displacement from the University for Peace (UPEACE) - UN Mandated, among other degrees including a Master's degree in Culture, Environment, and Sustainability.

She has also studied subjects like Protection, Environment, Democracy, and more at institutions like Université de Genève and the Centre for Science and Environment in New Delhi.

Throughout her career, Kaja has held various key positions within the Norwegian Red Cross, such as Senior Advisor Protection and Policy, Head of the President's Office, Country Manager for Kenya/Rwanda/Burundi, Regional Program Advisor for East Africa, and Coordinator for Arms Issues.

Prior to her roles at the Red Cross, she had diverse experiences including being a music journalist at Aftenposten, project coordinator, venue rep, production manager, management consultant, and project assistant for different organizations.

Kaja Sannerud Andersen's wide-ranging experiences across multiple sectors reflect her passion for humanitarian work, advocacy, policy, communication, and management, making her a versatile and knowledgeable professional in the field.
