Kanan Patel is a highly accomplished individual with a diverse background in air quality research, data analytics, and industry experience.

With a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, Kanan's research primarily focuses on factors influencing ambient PM concentrations in regions like New Delhi, India, and Texas, U.S.A.

Kanan has hands-on experience in field measurements using size distribution and composition spectrometry, along with in-depth analysis using tools like receptor modeling, thermodynamic, back-trajectory analysis, and various machine learning techniques.

Prior to pursuing graduate studies, Kanan worked with Royal Dutch Shell in roles including Oil Movements consultant in Bangalore, India, and Front-End Development Manager at the Shell Pulau Bukom Refinery in Singapore.

Kanan's skill set extends to software proficiency in tools such as Matlab, Igor, Python, R, and a strong understanding of machine learning and data science applications, both supervised and unsupervised.

In terms of education, Kanan holds a Bachelor of Technology (Honors) in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and a Master of Science and PhD in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.

Kanan has been associated with prestigious organizations like the Environmental Defense Fund as an Air Quality Specialist Intern and EDF Climate Corps Fellow, where they specialized in Air Quality Data Science with the Houston Health Department.

Additionally, Kanan has previously held roles such as Air quality, climate, and health data intern at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Process Engineer at Shell in Singapore, and Product Supply Consultant at the Shell Technology Centre in Bangalore.

Kanan has also been involved in research activities as an S.N Bose Scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and as an Industrial Trainee at Gujarat Alkalies and Chemical Ltd.
