Evidence Action is taking on one of the most ground-breaking and ambitious safe water projects in history. With this, we are looking for an exceptional Program Director and Deputy Program Director who can lead us in achieving nationwide safe water in India.
Globally, 2B people lack access to the basic human right of safe drinking water. If successful, this work - in partnership with the Government of India’s Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) - will allow us to meaningfully reduce this number, reaching hundreds of millions of people. For the initial years, the focus will be on working with JJM to install and manage new safe water technologies across three states in India, reaching up to 100 million people. The next expansion stage may encompass scaling to 10+ states, consistent with Evidence Action’s highly successful Deworm the World program. This is an incredibly high-impact opportunity made possible through a partnership with Evidence Action, JJM, and University of Chicago’s Development Innovation Lab founded by Nobel Laureate Michael Kremer.
