Kareem Shora is the Executive Vice President of Programs & Policy at Human Rights First, a nonpartisan international human rights organization.1 He was appointed to this position in 2021 and reports directly to the CEO, Mike Breen. In his role, Kareem leads a team of directors and subject matter experts in developing, executing, and leading the organization's policy and advocacy initiatives.1

Prior to joining Human Rights First, Kareem served as the acting Deputy Director for Policy and Programs at the US Department of Homeland Security's Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships. In this position, he was responsible for setting the direction of numerous financial, educational, and technical assistance efforts around local violence prevention frameworks across the United States.1

Kareem Shora has a background in human rights and national security. He has previously been associated with the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), where he held the position of executive director.2
