Karen Duffin is an acclaimed freelance reporter and editor known for her work at NPR's Planet Money and This American Life. She has lent her storytelling expertise to a variety of platforms including Radiolab, Reply All, More Perfect, Rough Translation, and others.

Duffin is also a seasoned educator, having taught audio documentary at prestigious journalism graduate schools like Columbia, NYU, and CUNY. Her coaching experience includes guiding storytelling at The Moth and serving as an editor at The Rumpus and Cowbird.

Her reporting covers a diverse range of topics, from serious issues like the death penalty and police reform to more lighthearted subjects such as teenage angst and quirky showdowns. Karen's exceptional work on an ISIS hostage rescue mission earned her the prestigious Overseas Press Club award for international audio reporting in 2019.

Prior to her journalism career, Karen Duffin excelled as a speechwriter, crafting messages for executives across multiple countries. She held key positions at Cisco, managing communications for top leadership and leading corporate social responsibility efforts. Her background also includes a stint with the Skoll Foundation.

A graduate of the Transom audio documentary program, Duffin's extensive experience in reporting, editing, teaching, and communication strategy showcases her multifaceted talents and commitment to impactful storytelling.
