Highlights
PhD in communication theory, neural networks, etc. done. On to the next challenge; earning the Certificate of Data Science in Business from NC State's Data Science Academy to put a stamp on my existing data science skills. Coursework includes R/Python coding, machine learning (ML), data visualization, data wrangling/web scraping, daya ethics, business analytics, and electives including social network analysis, big data analysis, SQL database management, and Large Language Models (LLMs) for AI. Should be fun!
I reviewed this excellent embedded video and written romp through the relationships between Large Language Model training, sentiment analysis, qualitative research software (CAQDAS), the disenfrancishment of the linguistic Global South, the various applications of Artificial Intelligence to qualitative research, data security, and synthetic or "fake" data. The article ends in a warning of the threat of regurgitating garbage and generating "deepfake" qualitative analysis not grounded in any reality if we become dependent on Artificial Intelligence and use it without care. I recommend the engaging video and this article on AI in qualitative research. https://lnkd.in/edgNChnB
