‼️Fraud Alert! A creator reached out to me to verify that these emails to her were real. It’s so smart that she did her homework - they are very much a scam. Someone is sending creators offers for work from “me”, representing that I still work at Target, and asking for social security numbers. Please - creators - never give someone private information without being absolutely sure who you’re talking to and verifying that it’s legitimate.
Most of you know that 2 years ago, I gave up a traditional life and moved to Costa Rica. My husband and I found ourselves, in our first year, wrapped in the love of our new small community on top of a mountain. 14 months ago, we opened Finca Brinca (The Leap Farm), a pottery studio, a coffee shop, and a plant nursery - the first commercial business on a dirt road 45 minutes from the nearest town. It has become a place where families and travelers and locals alike come to drink some of the world’s best espresso while gazing across a river and up a mountain range. 1 month ago, we supported the opening of our sister business, a movement space called “Suda” (Spanish for sweat). The joy that we see reflected in the faces of our guests reverberates through our nervous systems. We’re not working with the million dollar budgets I’ve been used to for decades. We’re passing on much of the sales directly to local Costa Ricans and indigenous tribes nearby. We provide scholarships for pottery lessons. It is rewarding to the core. It’s a place for healing and refuge. It’s a place for art and creativity. It’s a place where many global languages are spoken daily. It’s a place where our differences make us stronger together. It’s a place where there’s not a person who walks through the door without coming in for a hug. It’s small, human-to-human moments. It makes my life and the lives of others a delight. I am proud and grateful. 🙏🏻✨
