What are your ESG imperatives in the next 12 months?

In what could be a defining year, I see the imperatives as the need to make ESG a key strategic pillar and then find practical ways to implement ambitions.

ESG doesn’t always land and stick when it’s a series of lofty goals. It needs to be embedded in the core purpose of your organization and approached systematically.

At FM Global, we see ESG and climate risk resilience as one and the same. When natural hazards cause damage, for example, can you use the opportunity to build back in a greener, more sustainable, and resilient way?

This is just one way to couple purpose and practicality. Below, I’ve included a link to piece by 3P on likely ESG trends in 2023. There is good ambition in it about greater investment in clean energy, but I was struck by the stark assessment of the outlook for a circular economy and the size of the barriers in the way.

As we strive to turn our businesses into responsible, world-wise organizations, this is the kind of gloves-off assessment we need. Now, what are the practical steps to overcome such barriers and embed ESG as a key purpose?

Please drop me a note if you’d like to talk about the practical steps of ESG engagement. Or, if you want to understand more about likely ESG trends in 2023 and start thinking about how to make them ‘real’, here’s the link to the 3P article.
