Highlights
I'm lucky enough to be working with Elle Moss on a rebrand currently and this project reminds me again how content has everything to do with brand at times like these.
✨A rebrand is a HUGE opportunity to refresh and reframe your brand story: why is what you do relevant? What kind of customer challenges drive you today? How have your values evolved as your business evolves?
The right content expert will ask the right questions and work in tandem with your internal and agency teams to make sure that your story and the language you use to tell it blends seamlessly with your new brand identity.
🫸But wait. If you're not rebranding, these questions are still really valid. Too many mission statements and values documents are stale and static, not organic and ever-evolving (like your business)! So... is your brand story still relevant?
📈 COPYWRITING + STATISTICS = ?
Us copywriters are all about the words, but numbers matter too.
Statistics in particular are gold for eyecatching headlines and suck-you-in hooks and for shoring up arguments that truly shift the debate.
But stats are only as good as the treatment they get in copywriting. And by that, I mean that a badly interpreted stat can make the smoothest of copy look desperate. Yet an honestly presented, thoughtfully used stat can elevate content and gild it with credibility, confidence and style.
But stats are tricky little monsters, which is why understanding the numbers - even as a words person - is important.
I'll always be grateful to both formal education with The Open University (BSc Social Psychology and hooooo boy, the statistical rigour) and on the job learning with gigs like Meta's SMB case study programme where stats were crucial but the underlying principles for their use were rock-solid. So much good practice there.
Respect the stats, people. Oh, and make sure your copywriter is stat-literate 🤓
