Highlights
In the past year, I've taken on new strategic and operational scope in my role at Salesforce. If you've spent more than five minutes with me either personally or professionally, you know I am an enthusiast to my core: I love learning new things and I especially love sharing the things excite me with others. I've thoroughly enjoyed taking on this new role, not only because it's constantly bringing me new problems and ideas to share with my colleagues, but also because it's pointed out some key gaps in my knowledge that I've realized I can't fill on my own (something about studying art and literature in college didn't exactly prepare me to go toe to toe with our Finance department on budgets and growth targets...go figure!)
With the support of my company, I will be participating in two Executive Education programs this fall at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business to fill some of these gaps: the Executive Program in Corporate Strategy and Financial Analysis for Nonfinancial Managers. In the past when I've participated in these kinds of programs, I've seen the most benefit from discussing the material with other participants, so I'm putting out a call to my network here on LinkedIn: if you've been thinking about investing in your continuing education or expanding your strategic or financial acumen, I would love nothing more than to participate in these courses at Booth with you. Check out these courses to learn more, and reach out if I'll have the privilege of learning alongside you!

Something or other about the state of the world recently has made time warps a thing, and suddenly I've been working at #Salesforce for three years. If we've talked at all in that time, you've heard me say nothing but excellent things about this company and the people I get to work with. Work is frustrating as a rule. Deadlines are stressful and boundaries are easily discarded and scope endlessly creeps. When I joined Salesforce three years ago, I was hopeful, but not optimistic, that I would be able to chart a course to find a sustainable path to work to live, as opposed to live to work, and to try to break some of the horrible habits I'd inherited over the past decade in the consulting and tech worlds that made work/life balance feel impossible. Three years later and I couldn't be more surprised by or grateful for this company. I've seen a corporation put their money where their mouth is and actually take care of its workforce and care about its neighbors. I've been able to strike a balance that has allowed me to invest in my friends and family while still pursuing meaningful projects and customer success. I've developed relationships with coworkers that have buoyed me through a global pandemic and switch to full-time remote work. And most importantly, I've been able to transition to motherhood in a way that feels tenable, which is something I've been worried about my whole career. The good days outweigh the bad and I've never before been so grateful for a company and its investment in me, or more motivated to continue to help it pursue meaningful relationships with customers. Thank you for three wonderful years, Salesforce! I can't wait to see what is ahead. (and if you are reading this feeling frustrated or stuck in your career, or trying to figure out how to strike a balance between work and life, or navigating working parenthood, reach out! I'd love to talk more about this company, help you find a position that works for you and your family, or just commiserate.) #workmilestone
