Katharina Gaus

Katharina Gaus (12 July 1972 – 3 March 2021) was a German-Australian immunologist and molecular microscopist who served as a Professor at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).13 She was an NHMRC Senior Research Fellow and founding head of the Cellular Membrane Biology Lab at UNSW.15

Research and Contributions

Gaus specialized in super-resolution microscopy, using advanced fluorescence microscopes to study cell signaling at the molecular level.12 Her work focused on understanding how T cells make decisions, which is crucial for the development of drugs that can work with T cells to support the immune system.12
