Her educational background is impressive and unique, reflecting her dedication to understanding complex environmental issues from multiple perspectives. Katherine holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Resource Policy from The George Washington University, where she honed her skills in policy analysis and advocacy with a focus on sustainable solutions. Prior to her graduate studies, Katherine earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology from the University of California, Davis, providing her with a strong foundation in ecology and conservation practices. Additionally, her studies in Hispanic Studies at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid enriched her appreciation of diverse cultures and perspectives, further enhancing her contributions to global environmental discussions.
Katherine’s professional journey includes various roles that exemplify her commitment to sustainability. She currently works as a consultant in Sustainability Strategy & Disclosure at ERM: Environmental Resources Management, where she applies her knowledge and skills to help organizations enhance their sustainability practices and align with environmental regulations. Prior to this, she contributed to the marketing efforts at Hill Country Vein & Aesthetics Center, showcasing her versatility and ability to adapt her communication skills to different sectors.
Her internship experiences reflect her passion for legislative action and advocacy within environmental domains. As a former intern at the US House of Representatives Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, she gained first-hand experience in the policymaking process which allowed her to engage directly with legislators and stakeholders in climate policy formulation. Similarly, her role as a Policy Intern at the Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) helped her develop her research capabilities and further understand the interplay between environmental science and policy.
Katherine also interned at The Nature Conservancy, where she focused on urban conservation and external affairs, striving to promote nature-based solutions within urban development contexts. Her involvement as a Research Assistant at Operation Wallacea and as a Conservation Intern at organizations such as the Mountain Lion Foundation and the Cheetah Conservation Fund highlights her dedication to wildlife conservation and biodiversity. Each of these experiences has equipped Katherine with the skills necessary to contribute meaningfully to the field of environmental sustainability and policy-making.
