Katherine Schulten served as the editor-in-chief of The New York Times Learning Network from 2006 to 2019 and remains as a contributing editor. She is also the editor and author of two books, 'STUDENT VOICE: 100 ARGUMENT ESSAYS BY TEENS ON ISSUES THAT MATTER TO THEM' and 'RAISING STUDENT VOICE,' a teacher's guide based on her work with the site.

With over 25 years of experience in education, Katherine has held various roles such as editor, English teacher, writer, staff developer, literacy consultant, and school newspaper advisor. Her primary focus has always been on creating innovative strategies to foster literacy communities for teenagers.

In terms of education, Katherine Schulten studied Journalism at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, MA in English Education at Columbia University Teachers College, and pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English Language and Literature at Boston College.

Throughout her career, Katherine has been associated with prestigious organizations such as The New York Times Learning Network, the New York City Writing Project, Ventures in Education, WGBH, Time Magazine Education Program, Scholastic, Oxford Press, and Edward R. Murrow High School.
