One issue that crops up with my female clients in particular is the 'automatic yes'...

Coined by the excellent Kasia Urbaniak, it encapsulates that moment when someone asks something of you (... 'Have you got 5 minutes?' ...'Could you finish off this task for me?') and before you've had a chance to actually consider it, a breezy 'sure, no problem!' has come out of your mouth! 😱

And then when you're actually having to do that thing, how are you feeling? You're kicking yourself! 🤬

It sucks.

Sound familiar?

If so, you're not alone. This is centuries of societal and cultural 'good girl' conditioning. We grapple with expectations to be accommodating, sometimes at the cost of our own well-being.

The fear of being perceived as uncooperative or not a team player can make it hard to set boundaries at work.

Plus, good ol' impostor syndrome makes us want to prove our worth, fearing negative judgment for asserting ourselves.

This all leads to a cycle of overcommitment, causing stress and burnout.

But with a bit of practice, this is a habit you can break!

On 6th March in London, I'll be running a mini workshop for female leaders in social impact on how to take back control and set your limits — so that you can make your biggest contribution from a place of ease & flow, saying 'yes' to what really lights you up. 🔥
