Highlights
After six years with Edelman, the last year being Director Corporate Reputation, I've started a new chapter as Team Lead and Business Partner Environment at Tata Steel. It is going to be a challenging task, but I'm very much looking forward to making an impact and becoming part of the skilled and motivated team of Hans van den Berg and Andre Manning (CCPA) and more than 10.000 colleagues that work on green steel in a cleaner environment. Steel is an indispensable part of our present and our future. That is why it is important that we make steel in a responsible and sustainable way. Right now, we’re working hard on those plans as there’s work to be done.
I'm grateful for the many smart, hard working, positive, dedicated and fun colleagues I've worked with at Edelman Amsterdam over the years. It was quite the ride and a great and valuable experience. Special thanks to Arent Jan (AJ) Hesselink Steven Heywood, Ilse van Hartevelt and the entire leadership team for being the leaders they are, not just in steering the company in the right direction but also for being true and helpful mentors along the way. Last but not least, a shout out to the client teams I’ve been part of and clients we’ve supported over the past few years. Robin den Hoed, Stephan van der Niet, Lars Visser, Lily Schim van der Loeff, Maxime van Heumen, Ilonka van Bennekom, Dion Gouweleeuw, Nikki van Oorschot, Noa van den Eynden, Sophie Pieterse, Agustina Carbone, Amber van Stralen, Natasja Erftemeijer and all others.
Misinformation and distrust go hand in hand. With a scattered media landscape, it is hard these days to filter news and news sources. Our 2023 Edelman Trust Barometer shows that through distrust, social fabric within society weakens and deepens division. As we saw during and after the COVID-crisis, polarization destabilizes institutions and societies as a whole.
Our study shows that economic optimism is steeply declining as people fear for their economic future without a safety net. As of 2022, only 40% of the respondents say they see the future bright – 13 points less than in 2019.
Now more than ever, there is expected much from businesses as they are seen as competent and ethical institutions. The way forward is for businesses to step up, collaborate more with government in order to restore economic optimism – while always advocating for the truth.
All the findings from the Trust Barometer are to be found here: https://lnkd.in/eGbvSNEK
In March the Dutch results will be shared!
