Kel O'Hara

Equal Justice Works Fellow at Equal Rights Advocates

Kel O'Hara is a passionate queer non-binary lawyer and former crisis counselor with a dedication to offering trauma-informed legal support for survivors of sexual violence and harassment.

They focus on the intersection of gender, sexuality, interpersonal harm, and institutional harm, particularly advocating for LGBTQ student survivors' rights in education.

Kel holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in Public Interest Law from the University of California, Berkeley, with a background in American Studies, Communications, and Media Studies from Tufts University, having completed their high school education at Latin School of Chicago.

As an Equal Justice Works Fellow at Equal Rights Advocates, Kel has worked with various organizations like the Family Violence Appellate Project, East Bay Community Law Center, GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders, Family Violence Law Center, and more.

Notably, Kel was a Co-Founder of the Survivor Advocacy Project at Berkeley Law and has previous experience in marketing, development, and legal internships at different firms and organizations.
