Kelcie Miller-Anderson

Social Entrepreneur + Innovator + Environmental Scientist NEXT 36 + LOI Batch 3 + OYW Audi Scholar

Kelcie Miller-Anderson is a young Canadian entrepreneur and environmental scientist who co-founded MycoRemedy, a company that uses fungi-based technology for environmental remediation.12 She began her research on novel remediation methods for the Alberta Oil Sands at the age of 15 and founded MycoRemedy by the time she was 21.2

Miller-Anderson's innovative work involves using mycelium, the living body of mushrooms, to digest contaminants in soil, providing a natural and cost-effective solution for environmental cleanup.1 Her company's product, MycoMats, uses mycelium grown on a straw substrate to break down hydrocarbons and other pollutants, improving soil quality in the process.1

Despite facing challenges due to chronic illness, including two rare genetic conditions that require her to sleep up to 20 hours a day, Miller-Anderson has achieved significant recognition for her work.2 She has been named one of Canada's Top 20 Under 20, a Next 36 entrepreneur, and the youngest ever Rising Star in Canadian Oil and Gas.23

In addition to MycoRemedy, Miller-Anderson also founded a nonprofit organization called The Dandelion Project.2 Her work bridges the gap between environmental conservation and industry needs, advocating for sustainable solutions in the oil and gas sector.13
