It occurred to me that every good prospect that becomes a client comes to us either having recently launched a new #website or are in the process of building a new website.

And then almost always… we tear it down and start again.

Doesn’t it make sense to engage a #digitalmarketing firm like ours before you commit all that time, money and effort?

When you think about it, it kinda makes sense. The writing is on the wall. You may spot the signs:

• Ideal leads are scarce  • Sales have plateaued • You’re not building a list  • People don’t hang around your site long • You’re overly reliant on referrals

And so you commit to fixing your marketing problem. What’s the first thing you do? You build a new website.

It pains me. Because if it’s the first thing you do… it’s almost guaranteed to fail.

So my advice: Stop! Don’t build that new website. (Not yet anyway.)

There are 4 Steps every firm should take before they even think about button colours and fonts and a host of other details that won’t add a shiny nickel to your bottom line.

  1. Research: Uncovering your value prop in your best clients
  2. Writing copy that actually converts
  3. Design that follows copy and #strategy
  4. Building your site for your ecosystem

Here’s the payoff — done right, you may never need to start from scratch again. You'll actually graduate into what we call Optimizers Club.

So if you’re on the precipice - stop and read my latest article (link in comments below).

Such a pleasure to join our favourite interior designer, Rebecca Hay on her podcast Resilient By Design where we talk about how process sells, getting feedback from clients and other marketing initiatives to embrace.

It was a lot of fun! You can find it wherever you get your podcasts.
