Kelly Rose

Technical Director, interim, Science-based Ai/Ml Institute (SAMI) at National Energy Technology Laboratory

Kelly Rose is a geology and geo data science researcher at the National Energy Technology Laboratory's Research Innovation Center, where she focuses on reducing uncertainty, characterizing, and understanding spatial relationships between energy and natural systems.

She plays a crucial role in various advisory committees, including the Department of Interior's National Geologic and Geophysical Data Preservation Program, UN's global outlook on methane gas hydrates, New Zealand's Gas Hydrate Resources Program, and the University of Southern California's Induced Seismicity and Reservoir Monitoring Consortia.

Rose serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Sustainable Energy Engineering and is a member of NETL's SFIRE team, aiming to find hybrid energy solutions for sustainable and environmentally responsible energy needs. Additionally, she leads NETL ORD's Technical efforts in Offshore Energy Resources Research Portfolio.

As the Coordinator for NETL's Energy Data eXchange (EDX), Rose oversees the public and private coordination tool developed for the Department of Energy (DOE). She is also the Executive Director of InTellus Innovations, LLC, a spatial data science innovation and technology company she founded.

Kelly Rose holds a Ph.D. in Geology from Oregon State University, an M.S. in Geology from Virginia Tech, and a B.S. in Geology from Denison University. She has a diverse professional background, having worked in various roles at organizations like EG&G Technical Services, Marathon Oil Corporation, and different capacities at the National Energy Technology Laboratory.
