Lately, I've spent time reflecting on my work.
What isn't working?
How can I write better?
What part of content creation is most fulfilling?
Looking back at all the content I've created, it was easier to imagine which pieces worked, were written well, and were the most fun to write.
Often, they were off-the-cuff narratives or experimental articles.
They differed from the 600-word press release that had its enthusiasm eroded by fear or formality.
They didn't revolve around a keyword, short- or long-tailed, but rather dialogues.
Sometimes, they hit vanity metrics. But many of the posts with the fewest likes, engagement, or shares converted more than those that were "measurable," something I discovered from clients who spoke regularly with their new aquisitions.
In an age of hyperfocus on analytics and ROI, I'd like to know if creative teams should give themselves more wiggle room to design lasting content.
And it lasts not because it's "evergreen," beginner dribble that's been done 100 times. It lasts not because it's "safe."
But because it offers long-term value through new ideas and emotional connection.
