Highlights
Week 7 of unemployment! It's Thanksgiving Week, which if you know me, you know this is a big week for me, as I've curated a practically perfect Thanksgiving menu over the last few years of recipe testing.
Last week, my husband, daughter and I went to New Orleans for the first time with my in-laws and let me tell you, taking a crawling / standing baby on vacation is not for the weak! While there, we ate tons of yummy food, went on a historic tour and celebrated the engagement of my sister-in-law and her new fiancé.
Last night, we found ourselves at a pediatric urgent care, with a very tired baby who dislocated her elbow and was more interested in going to bed than addressing her ailments. We got home, put her to bed and I said to my husband - parenthood is so endlessly stressful.
In this moment, the word that has become my subtle mantra is push. Persistence has always been a strength of mine, but it can be challenging in the macro environment we're in. I am hopeful that with a push attitude, I will open doors, create the right opportunity for myself, and re-establish stability for my family -- ideally before the year is over. ;)
Here's a fun shot of me and Isla in New Orleans last week!
We're here at week 5 of unemployment, and I missed a week 4 update. Strap in for a two-week update below!
Am I still unemployed? Yes.
Have I done any cool / exciting interviews? Sure have! Hopefully more on that (and maybe less from me?) soon.
Did I bake over the last 10 days? Yes - I made a lasagna and brownies for Halloween (picture below). I also baked two loaves of zucchini bread, one for my best friend and 74-year-old neighbor, Tony (IYKYK) and one for our house.
Did we dress up for Halloween? Obviously. If you know me, you know I love a creative costume.
This week, our nanny is on holiday and I'm home with our daughter. Next week, we are going on a long-planned family trip to New Orleans - my first time! If you have suggestions or advice on the city, where to eat, what to skip, etc. - I'd love to hear it.
