Ken Ash

Ken Ash is a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for International Trade, University of Adelaide, and Director of Ash Global Insights.1 He offers advice to businesses and governments on international trade and agricultural policies, focusing on subsidy reform, supply chains, and global food systems.1

Previously, Ken served as the Director of Trade and Agriculture at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) from 2008 to 2020, having been Deputy Director since 1999.1 In this role, he led OECD efforts to provide evidence-based advice to governments, including G7 and G20 groupings, aimed at improving domestic and international performance of trade, food, agriculture, and fisheries policies.1

Before joining the OECD, Ken had extensive experience in the Government of Canada. He held the position of Director General, Economic and Policy Analysis from 1995 to 1999, where he provided strategic advice on agriculture and trade policies and government-wide institutional reform.1 Ken holds both B. Comm and MBA degrees.1

Ken Ash is recognized for his expertise in agricultural policies and their impact on climate and the environment. He has contributed to discussions and research on the harmful environmental impacts of agricultural subsidies and the potential for repurposing them to benefit both people and the planet.23
