Growing and developing a remote team involves more than just virtual connections. Occasionally meeting IRL is crucial to building new connections, fostering collaboration, and breaking down barriers.
Recently, I, along with some of my Hostaway peers, had the opportunity to host regional in person meetups with our team members in the Philippines (🇵🇭) and Sri Lanka (🇱🇰). This was the first time our leadership team met these amazing and dedicated team members face-to-face and it won't be the last. It was also the first time many of them met in person which made the entire event even more powerful.
The two weeks of travel were filled with shared experiences, from working in coworking spaces to enjoying AMAZING meals and tackling escape rooms together. Calculating an ROI for these types of events is impossible but they are invaluable, and this trip has already yielded tangible and intangible positive outcomes.
A special shoutout to Josh Loe, Phil Hodges, and Florian Marechal for the great teamwork during our travels (and to Bethan Adelekan, Glenn Mariano and Jess Toro for the logistical support).
