The ancient Arch of Ctesiphon dates from the Persian Empire. It functioned as the seat of government for what is now Iraq. Located around the Iraqi city of Salman Pak, the US & Iraqi military used the arch as a checkpoint.

The arch figures prominently in my soon-to-be-released novel, Death Blossom. The novel tells the tale of a US military investigator during the Iraq War investigating the suspicious death of an American officer

Praise for Wind of Change! T. L. Needham from Windy City Reviews published a review of Wind of Change: An American Journey in Post-Soviet Russia. Needham writes, "... Wind of Change (it) was an allegory of his days in Russia and the direction destiny had in store for Maher (him), and the Russians, and whether the linkage would be productive and lasting. This important book is well-written and very engaging. It is an essential and timely record of the transition of Soviet Russia to the Russia of today, nearly three decades later."
