18 years ago, I started my journey with RSM answering phones. Admittedly, I thought it was going to be rather short time until I found a career path in public safety. However, after a short period, I quickly learned that #rsmus was growing fast and there was plenty of opportunity to grow along with it. I attribute my growth and success to those that took an interest in me, my professional development and my career as much as I do my own perseverance. I was always eager to learn something new and there was no shortage of people willing to teach me. Not only were they willing to teach, they were willing to let me fail and to learn from my mistakes rather than taking the opportunity away from me and “doing it right” themselves. When I succeeded, I received praise and acknowledgement. When I did not meet the expected goal or outcome, they would ask how would I improve? They would immediately trust me with a similar or different task to continue to challenge me, build my knowledge, skills and abilities.
What is my biggest take away from my experience at RSM? Cultivating strong teams, investing in the success of people, take the opportunity to learn, not being afraid to fail and help lift up others that fell short of their goal. #leadership #strongteams #growth #caring #courage
