Highlights
After thousands of discussions with HR tech buyers over 6 years, one theme surfaces more than any other:
Companies have a solid performance management strategy, but they struggle with manager adoption. Managers are not consistently checking in with employees, which leads to low adoption of goal tracking. The result? Leaders have little transparency into performance metrics, and when they do, those metrics are often inaccurate because the underlying process wasn’t fully adopted. I call this nonstick performance management.
What is the root cause of nonstick performance management? In most cases, the tools being used are tools designed for HR administrators and they are clunky and not intuitive, making them difficult for managers to embrace. This is why good software design matters. A well-thought-out strategy is crucial, but without a user-friendly system to support it, adoption will always be a challenge.
A solid performance management strategy is key to business success, but its impact depends on the tools you choose. Even the best strategy will fall short without the right tools. Great software design is the foundation for making it all come together.

New Lattice product alert: Lattice Talent Reviews!
Similar to how our early customers were hacking our performance reviews tool to conduct employee surveys (!!!) we have heard from customers that they ‘hack’ their existing performance management process to conduct talent assessments or use manual workarounds via spreadsheets, so just as it became obvious that we needed to provide our customers with a proper engagement tool back in 2018, we knew it was time launch a product tailor-made for talent reviews!
