In our next episode of Space Economy Insights, Emma Gatti and I chat with Fani Kallianou de Jong of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) about the different roles of the multinational development banks (MDB) in the space economy. The EBRD, along with The World Bank and other regional MDBs serve as customers of space data as well as make investments for leveraging space capabilities in support of key development goals.
The EBRD focuses on transition to market economies, and it can make direct, non-defense investments as well as mobilize private investment. We discuss the relevance of space to the EBRD's programs on climate change, digital transition, and inclusion. We revisit the quest for improved accounting methods for the space economy, and the importance of improved public communications about the importance of space. Fani Kallianou de Jong, thanks for joining us! #spaceeconomy #spaceindustry #spaceinvestment #spacecommerce
