The firing of Sam Altman is the biggest story of value destruction by one single decision of a board of directors in the past decade. It is a perfect illustration of how an ill-designed governance of a company could lead it to destroy the quintessence of its success.

No matter what, OpenAI has just lost several months at best or several years in the race to general AI and is providing a chance to hundreds of startups in the Gen AI space to catch up and survive given OpenAI dominance so far.

Last for OpenAI, no serious investor will fund the company without a clean up of its board and a redesign of its #governance .
