Highlights
For the last 3 months, BioSapien has been participating in the C3 - Companies Creating Change and Standard Chartered's Women in Tech accelerator program in Dubai. It is such an honor to share this learning space and I am incredibly proud to have the opportunity to participate in this program founded by the knowledgable and supportive Medea Nocentini.
As a result, I have had the pleasure of meeting some of the most stellar female founders in the UAE, who are motivated by personal stories and therefore deeply driven towards making an impact in todays diverse society. Shout out to Circa Biotech (making jet fuel from black flies, while reducing carbon footprint), The Surpluss | Certified B Corp (unique supply-chain resource management system), and Takkul (food waste management service providing at-cost meals for communities).
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of sharing the MediChip platform with the CEO of Standard Charter, Rola Abu Manneh, while discussing the necessary ingredients of cultivating an early-stage ecosystem within the growing MENA region. The risk-averse mentality is slowly taking a backseat, as founders and investors dare to take higher risks to reap higher rewards.
I am super excited to share that Demo Day will be October 10th, and invite you all to stay tuned for more exciting news...
I had the honor and privilege to spend some time with H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Cabinet Member and Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence last week to showcase what we are working on at BioSapien. It was a proud moment of me, as an individual, but also as a start up that is part of the Hub71 community. Thank you to the HUB for trusting me with this opportunity.
I shared our excitement to start our clinical trials and early commercialization in the UAE with MediChip to treat cancer locally. A few jokes here, and some words of wisdom later; it was an afternoon well spent.
I will say, I definitely need to brush up on my Arabic. Until next time, Shukran Habibi!
