Executive Director

Kiera Smalls is a nationally recognized community builder and innovator with a passion for connecting resources to those in need across various sectors, including technology, entrepreneurship, and transportation.

Currently, she serves as the Executive Director of the Running Industry Diversity Coalition, driving DEI initiatives to enhance inclusion and visibility for BIPOC individuals in the running industry, and works as a Consultant for Johnson and Johnson's Health Equity Innovation Challenge.

Previously, Kiera led a successful rebranding effort as Executive Director of Philly Startup Leaders, launched an accelerator for emerging entrepreneurs, and secured substantial grants for first-time BIPOC founders through innovative strategies.

Her contributions to the launch of Indego's equity-based bike-sharing program have significantly increased accessibility for underrepresented groups and set a standard for urban transportation programs nationwide.

Kiera has been honored with various accolades, including being named Metro's Black Power Player, featured in the Philadelphia Business Journal's Power 100, recognized as the New Look of Power by Philadelphia Magazine, and received the Science Center's Convener Award.

She emphasizes the importance of inclusivity and believes in creating spaces where voices from all communities are heard and valued, reflecting her commitment to diversity and equity.

Kiera Smalls holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with minors in Sociology and African American Studies from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.

Her previous roles include Executive Director at Running Industry Diversity Coalition, Consultant at Johnson & Johnson, Co-Founder at Strides (formerly City Fit Girls), General Manager at Bloc, Executive Director at Philly Startup Leaders, Marketing Manager at Indego, and various positions focusing on diversity, inclusion, and community engagement.
