So a Ways and Means motion has been put forward. One that mirrors the March 2024 Federal Budget.

As we prepare for the House of Commons to vote on changes to capital gains, it's important to remember:

Government is not the engine of Canada’s economy- businesses are.   Our entrepreneurs, small business owners, and investors are not the ultra-wealthy elite the government portrays. They are professionals who take personal risks to build businesses, create jobs, and contribute to their communities. They are the backbone of our economy.   Governments do not create wealth. Their role is to foster conditions that encourage entrepreneurship and investment. That and that alone will set the stage for the prosperous Canada Minister Freeland envisions.

Canadian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (CVCA) has said it before and we will say it again, this government needs to align its ambitions with those who invest, grow and are working hard to make this country more productive.
