Kimberly Chiew

Assistant Professor of Psychology at University of Denver

Kimberly Chiew is an accomplished assistant professor and the director of the Motivation, Affect, & Cognition Lab in the Department of Psychology at the University of Denver.

With a strong academic background, Kimberly completed her Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology at Washington University in St. Louis in 2013, after obtaining her M.A. in the same field and a B.Sc.(Hons) in Neuroscience at the University of Toronto.

Her research interests revolve around exploring emotional and motivational impacts on cognitive processes, specifically cognitive control and episodic memory. Kimberly employs various methodologies like cognitive paradigms, psychophysiological and eye-tracking methods, functional neuroimaging, and video analysis of naturalistic behavior in her work.

Passionate about education, Kimberly is dedicated to teaching and guiding students, with a special focus on enhancing diverse representation and inclusion in STEM fields.

Aside from her current role at the University of Denver, Kimberly has served as a postdoctoral associate at Duke University's Center for Cognitive Neuroscience and has gained experience as a research assistant at prominent institutions like the Rotman Research Institute, Princess Margaret Hospital, and Lakehead University.
