Just by chance, my now ex-husband once brought me home a shoebox of early twentieth century photos and memorabilia from there, some of which I wrote a poem about before I returned the originals to their local Historical Society, who were delighted to receive them. Last night on the News Hour the CEO of the company responsible for the derailment and toxic chemical spill questioned the purpose of the proposal in the Ohio legislature mandating at least two workers per train, saying he has not seen a study that provides evidence that it would improve safety. This may simply be because no such study has yet been done. But I would reframe the issue as one of worker rights. In any such business, there is a risk of toxic accident, and it is too much to ask any one employee to bear alone the potential accusation of having caused it.
