We recently published an in-depth analysis of the European VC space from the point of view of generating positive impact in addition to superior fund returns.

As a recap: The positive impact of venture capital is evident across critically important sectors such as climate tech 🍀 where startups raised € 18.2bn in 2023 and investment has tripled to more than € 20bn in the past three years. VCs and LPs are motivated by the desire to make a positive environmental impact in their investment decisions: a third (31%) of survey respondents said reducing carbon footprint is a top priority when choosing a fund or company to invest in, and more than half (52%) identified advancing climate change initiatives as a top priority in the next 12 months.

Next đź—“ Friday 6th September we will be discussing BEYOND RETURNS online with Emma Wheeler of UBS, Kevin R. of bp Ventures and Carolyn Dawson of Founders Forum Group. Please join us for this important topic!

It has been an honour to be part of the discussion at INSEAD this week at “Reimagining Family Businesses for Wealth Regeneration” where members of leading family businesses, investors, entrepreneurs and INSEAD faculty gathered to share their personal stories and debate some of the key challenges facing family businesses today and in the future.

Thank you to INSEAD Wendel International Centre for Family Enterprise (INSEAD Family Business), in particular to Sonia Tatar, Bala, Claudia, Martin, Ivy and other team members as well as my fellow speakers - Andreas von Specht, Chinta Bhagat and moderator Vikas Aggarwal for an inspirational discussion!

Venture Capital is to me the most impactful asset class đź’š bringing new breakthrough innovation to market and scaling the technologies of tomorrow, tackling pressing global challenges, creating new solutions to societal problems and creating competition and jobs! Catalysing family businesses into the space delivers multiple advantage to all: the family and corporation, the venture investors, the startups and to ecosystem players.
