Dr. Kinnon Ross MacKinnon, PhD, is a dedicated community-engaged researcher with a passion for understanding the complexities of the social world and healthcare systems. With a solid academic background in public health and social work, Dr. MacKinnon's research focuses on identifying gaps in health and social services to enhance care delivery. A specialist in LGBTQ2 health service transformation, Dr. MacKinnon completed a PhD in Public Health Sciences at the University of Toronto and currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at York University. His postdoctoral experience includes work at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Sexual and Gender Minority Health Research at U of T, a Lupina fellowship at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, and a fellowship in health professions education research at the Wilson Centre within the Faculty of Medicine at U of T. Dr. MacKinnon's collaborative research has been featured in prestigious journals like Advances in Health Sciences Education and the International Journal of Mental Health, showcasing his commitment to advancing knowledge in the field. As an accomplished scholar, he has also contributed public commentaries to platforms like Huffington Post Canada, The Winnipeg Free Press, and The Advocate. Dr. MacKinnon's dissertation project, supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, involves the development of a digital educational resource for healthcare professionals. He has received recognition as a former Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council doctoral fellow, highlighting his excellence in research and academic pursuits.
