Kirsten McKinney is an experienced theater and dance educator who has worked at several prestigious schools. She served as the Director of Dance at The Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas.25 Prior to that, she was on the Theater Faculty at The Walnut Hill School for the Arts for over two decades.2

McKinney is an award-winning choreographer, having choreographed over 200 musicals, mostly in and around the Boston area. She was the resident choreographer for SpeakEasy Stage Company for 12 seasons and has taught at Boston College, Emerson College, and The Boston Conservatory.2

Her educational background includes a BFA from the Boston Conservatory with a minor in choreography.3 McKinney has also been recognized with a Tony Award nomination for Excellence in Theater Education.2

As of 2025, McKinney is the Director of Theater at St. Paul's School in Concord, NH, a position she has held since July 2022.5 During her time at The Kinkaid School, she served as the Middle and Upper School Acting Teacher and Director, joining the school around 2017.14

McKinney is known for her passion for both theater and dance, and her ability to inspire students in the performing arts. She has been described as eager for change and challenge, particularly appreciating schools that value both arts and athletics highly.1
