Kirstie Whitaker is a prominent figure dedicated to promoting the development of reproducible, collaborative, inclusive, and ethical practices in data science and AI.

She is the founder of The Turing Way and plays pivotal roles in various research projects, such as being the co-lead investigator for the NIHR-funded AI for Multiple Long Term Conditions Research Support Facility, as well as the co-lead investigator for the AutSPACEs citizen science platform.

Kirstie Whitaker is deeply invested in open source initiatives, open research, FAIR data principles, and community leadership.

Her educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Neuroscience from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Science (MSc) in Medical Physics from The University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Physics from the University of Bristol.

Throughout her career, Kirstie has held key positions including Programme Director for Tools, Practices and Systems, Programme Lead for Tools, Practices and Systems, and Research Fellow at The Alan Turing Institute. She has also served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Cambridge and pursued graduate studies at UC Berkeley and the University of British Columbia.
