"In a boundaryless world, work isn't defined by jobs, the workplace isn't a specific place, and many workers aren't traditional employees"   That was a quote I read in Deloitte's new 2023 Global Human Capital Trends report - a report that I'd highly recommend everyone to go and check out.   The report takes a deep dive into the key trends reshaping work, the workforce and the workplace.   A key theme is that the boundaries that have traditionally governed the rules of work - the way jobs are organized, where work happens and who qualifies for specific roles - are falling away. And that is exactly what we've started to experience amongst many of our clients at Marcher Markholt.   For centuries, we have been governed by a mechanistic view of work. It's fixed and repeatable, organized into discrete tasks and grouped into well-defined jobs. But these models are now heavily challenged meaning that we have to fundamentally rethink what work means, where it is done and how we lead work in a different environment.   The new boundaries are focused on human dynamics, and how people interact with and engage with work.   There's no doubt that it's going to be very interesting to follow this development over the next few years...   What is your take on this?   #talentacquisition #blendedworkforce #futureofwork #weknowtalent

Do you want greater employee engagement?   Then it might be time to redefine your workforce talent mix 💡   I recently read a Forbes article by Jon Younger PhD (whom I'd suggest you go ahead and follow if you're interested in the future workforce), which takes a deep dive into the importance of building a blended and flexible workforce to drive employee engagement.   Jon writes: "Even good managers in employee-centric organizations are challenged to build and retain an engaged team. Engagement, like inflation, is a stubborn problem and managers’ tools are poorly adapted to the post-pandemic environment."   I think that this once again shows how the tables have turned in terms of priority. Factors such as work-life balance, flexibility and family are key drivers for employees in this new post-pandemic era, and as I argued in a post last week, people want to be seen and heard, not kicked around.   But, not every company recognizes this, and thus, employee engagement levels are decreasing - with Gen Z and Millenials as the least engaged.   A blended and flexible approach to staffing can be the key to unlocking more significant levels of engagement.

For example, open talent can enable your organization to build teams with just the right combination of expertise, experience and location. That leads to more successful teams and an environment more respectful of team members' expertise.   Will put a link to the article down in the comments. What are your thoughts on this? Have you experienced some of the benefits of a blended and flexible workforce?   #talentacquisition #blendedworkforce #flexibleworkforce #weknowtalent
