Kosta Lucas

P/CVE, Community Resilience Specialist

Kosta Lucas is an independent researcher and practitioner specializing in preventing and countering violent extremism.

With a strong background in policy, research, and grassroots program development, Kosta served as the Chief Program Director of People against Violent Extremism (PaVE), Australia's pioneering countering violent extremism non-government organization.

In 2016, Kosta established his consultancy, SynqUp, focusing on transforming conflict into community cohesion.

He collaborates with a wide array of public and private entities such as Google, YouTube, Australian Multicultural Foundation, and various Australian government departments to heighten community awareness regarding the factors contributing to violent extremism locally and internationally.

Kosta holds prominent roles as a member of the Global Internet Counter Terrorism Fund's Independent Advisory Group and as a Specialist Consultant for the Commonwealth Secretariat.

Additionally, he previously contributed his expertise to the European Union's Radicalisation Awareness Network's Expert Pool, focusing on youth engagement, prevention, and community resilience.

Aside from his consultancy work, Kosta also serves as a sessional academic at Notre Dame University, tutoring in Terrorism and Intelligence, and Global Development.

He pursued his education with a Master's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Sydney and completed a Bachelor's degree in Laws and Arts at The University of Notre Dame Australia.
