Highlights
“With gratitude, optimism is sustainable.” ~ Michael J Fox
Yesterday I had a long conversation with a client who is going through a very painful and challenging time personally. We talked about how gratitude can help him stay grounded and move through the phases of grief after losing his father. When asked what he’s grateful for, he immediately shifted his energy to optimism. He said he noticed an immediate change in his mindset just naming the top three things he’s grateful for.
Then I just happened to come across this quote by Mr Fox. How fitting!
When times are tough, take a dose of gratitude and see how it shifts your perspective.

“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it.” ~ Peter Pan
Every leader faces moments of self doubt. It’s a normal part of a leadership journey. But if you allow self doubt to be a regular state of being, it limits your leadership influence and can erode your credibility.
This is not to say as a leader you need to have all the answers. Nor does it mean you should hide your uncertainty or fake confidence. People can see through that.
Instead, self reflection (and a conversation with a trusted colleague) can help ensure self doubt isn’t “clipping your leadership wings.”
Here’s a few valuable reflection questions that can help.
-What is at stake that you care deeply about?
-What are you most concerned about?
-What are your choices in the matter?
-With that, what conversation will enable you to move forward?
What methods help you turn self doubt into value?
