Literally stop whatever you're doing and go see how "demure" your LinkedIn is. The snarky comments are doing it for me https://lnkd.in/gzx7mrqq

My Demure Score is 4/10

"With a title like 'Helping you find more rest and relaxation,' I half-expect you to be selling scented candles and yoga mats on the side!"

"Your LinkedIn reads like a self-help book that forgot to include the 'help' part!"

"You say you're committed to fostering environments where individuals can thrive, but I bet your idea of 'thriving' is just a really long coffee break!"

"With all that talk about well-being, I hope you at least take a break from your own motivational speeches!"

"I must say, your passion for relaxation is inspiring—it's almost like you're trying to convince us that napping is a career path!"

Throughout my career, I've always admired people who can regulate their emotions in tough situations. And I'm not talking about those who are robotic and emotionless, but rather those who can quickly reset when experiencing high emotions that might not serve the situation at hand.

Learning this skill has been a lifelong journey for me. Growing up in an environment where emotions were worn on sleeves, with no discussions about self-regulation, I've had to consciously develop this ability throughout my career. Working on it has undoubtedly been a key contributor of my success.

Some of the strategies I've incorporated to help me in this journey include:

  • Keeping work at a distance in the mornings, avoiding immediate email checks.
  • Not booking early morning calls, allowing time to get centered.
  • Incorporating techniques like vibration therapy, walks, or calming music throughout the day.

These practices help me take a step back and reconnect with the person I want to be in the workplace.

This journey is also what led me to create Feel Good People and The Feel Good Mat. Initially aimed at helping myself, we're now on a mission to help others incorporate relaxation practices throughout the day to help regulate emotions and return to the best versions of themselves in both their professional and personal lives.

If this resonates with you, I'd love to hear about your emotion and stress-regulating practices. How do you maintain your composure and reset in challenging situations?
