Kristen Haakons is a highly educated and experienced professional with a strong background in medicine and research. She holds a Master of Science degree in Zoology from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from The University of Sydney. Kristen's passion for Biology led her to pursue medical school at The University of Sydney, where she completed medical rotations in various locations including Australia, India, British Columbia, and Ontario. She excelled in her studies and completed both Australian medical school requirements and Canadian Medical Board examinations.

During her time at The University of Sydney, Kristen demonstrated a keen interest in research by working in a Neuro Oncology lab and participating in a glycemic index study. She also undertook a project in the Cardiology Department, which involved collaboration with a laboratory in Oxford. Her dedication to research earned her the prestigious Ian Black Award for best Cardiology research.

Kristen's passion for medicine extends to working with children, prompting her to pursue specialty training in Paediatrics. She obtained a Diploma of Child Health in 2016 and completed a Junior House Officer year focusing on Paediatric Medicine. Kristen was accepted into the Paediatric Training program and began specialized training in 2018. She aspires to contribute to clinical research and International Public Health initiatives, potentially through organizations like Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders).
