it's funny to see people wasting millions on turn key network based privacy killing tech because they were first to market.

Open source is going to do most of what you need and not limit what you can do. it'll also run on your phone in a few years.

tl;dr This project's goal lets you test text-hungry and public data apps quickly so you don't have to spend months in your discovery phase of a project massaging data that is ready to be used by your data hungry app.

====

What I hate about text hungry apps: after that fun 10 line tutorial that shows you a powerful use case and knocks your socks off, it's time to give it adult pants and test it with a large set of data. But that takes a lot of time! It can take week, if not months, to parse a large corpus of test data. It takes the majority of time in discovery.

That's what I aim to solve.

This project brings you parsed, clean wikipedia data fast and it scales. Over time, I plan to do the same for other public data often used in projects:

  • World weather history (for AI-driven climate apps)
  • 311 data (for behavioral analysis in large cities)
  • Census data (for US population geographic and behavioral analysis)
  • IRS data (for US population geographic and behavioral analysis)
  • ACCURATE web crawling (for any website)

I'm about to beta my first run of a project I made to quickly test new search technologies by indexing wikipedia through Kafka pipelines.

Fully open source, this project comes from my years of experience with creating analytics and search solutions for pretty big entities that you've likely used on more than one occasion.

This is going to evolve to index data from multiple sources and parse almost any type of doc you can give it.

In the meantime, I have branches to work on the following features:

  • Web crawler - using selenium to launch web browsers to parse web data
  • Powerful parsing - parse most any type of doc you hand it by integrating the upcoming TIKA gRPC interfaces.
  • Direct sources - parsing of popular public data from Law PDFs, weather history, 311 data, census data, and IRS data

It'll be a one-stop shop to get the above data and quickly take a large corpus of choices and instantly begin using it in text-hungry applications.
