Last week was so incredible and it makes me so proud to be a part of the AANPHI community! I attended the first Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Higher Education Leadership Development Summit by the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI) and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management at UC Berkeley where I reconnected with many colleagues, met new people, and learned so much from amazing leaders. I also returned to the Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education (APAHE) Conference after being away for five years. I appreciate reconnecting with my LDPHE cohort, spending time with UC Berkeley friends, meeting new friends, and participating in so many moving and thought-provoking sessions. These were my first professional development events since having children, so it was both inspiring and empowering to be in community with wonderful fellow AANPHI higher education leaders!

I appreciate reconnecting and meeting fellow AAPI UC staff today! Thank you to APISA at UCOP for organizing the inaugural symposium. I look forward to joining future gatherings. I am sad to miss APAHE this year but hope to attend next year! I haven’t been able to focus much on my professional and community development, so it was great to have a moment to reconnect.
